Each month Move Seniors Lovingly- Etobicoke | Peel | Halton plans to profile one of the retirement residences they’ve had the pleasure of working with to showcase what makes them exceptional. December’s Featured Residence is Parkland on Eglinton West.
Atmosphere:
Entering Parkland on Eglinton West retirement residence during their “Home for the Holidays” celebration, I was immediately enveloped in holiday cheer. Their grand lobby entrance was filled with staff dressed in seasonal sweaters and even one or two elves scurrying about. Santa Clause and Mrs. Clause were seated near the tree, eagerly awaiting residents, their children, and grandchildren.

Residents gathered in the lobby, preparing to listen to the festive choir. Others sat together at the charming Breton Bistro & Lounge, sipping coffee and eating holiday treats and popcorn. You could tell this was a residence where friendships were made, and unique experiences were shared. On this particular day, there were animals outside in the courtyard for residents and their families to pet, including goats, sheep, donkeys, and even a llama. Talk about holiday magic!

They truly love what they do and consistently go above and beyond.” As I toured this residence, I witnessed her words ring true as residents stopped to chat with her or ask her where they could get something festive to wear on their heads for the celebration.
“Our residents are equally proud of our space and happy to live here,” says Ola. She says she loves seeing their transformation from moving into Parkland on Eglinton West to a couple of months down the road, noting, “They are now relaxed and enjoying life to the fullest.”

One of the great things about Parkland on Eglinton West is that all amenities are located on the main floor, so there is no confusion about where you can find all your daily activities. The space offers a beautiful spa, pool, and a Harmony Fitness area with many popular classes, such as cardio and balance classes. There’s also a Kingsway Movie Theatre and a private dining room that residents can book called Princess Anne. For residents with pets, there is even a Pet Spa to pamper your furry friends.

Regarding the food highlights, a group of in-house chefs prepare fresh meals daily at The Citadel Restaurant, and an in-house Pastry Chef makes an array of new desserts daily, showcased at The Citadel’s very own Sweet Spot! Shannon’s Pub is where residents can get together over a pint and enjoy game room amenities like the pool table and golf simulator.

Parkland on Eglinton West also offers many options for levels of care, allowing their residents to age in place. Lifestyle Apartments are available for those who enjoy independent living but also want access to amenities, the social calendar and concierge services. These gorgeous suites feature fully-equipped kitchens with stainless steel appliances, marble countertops, extra-wide doorways, tons of closet space, and even a private balcony. The All-Inclusive Lifestyle includes two meals per day, weekly housekeeping, chauffeur and concierge services and more.
Assisted Living offers options like medication assistance and three meals daily, amongst other services. There is also a Memory Care community specifically designed for residents with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. At the end of my tour, I realized that it wasn’t just the magic of the season that left me with an impression of care and community.
