Just walking through the doors of Westney Gardens, there was tranquillity to the retirement residence that was one of a kind. Their beautiful living plant wall with running water immediately put one at ease, as did its serene blue accent walls. Beyond its thoughtful décor, Westney Gardens is known for its Dimensions of Wellness program, which includes emotional, social, environmental, community engagement, physical, intellectual, and spiritual pillars.
Westney Gardens believes in all-generation engagement and partners with local schools for community engagement. There are recycling programs, birdwatching, and raised garden beds for their environmental pillar. Emotional and spiritual pillars are met through programs such as art therapy, grieving support and more. There is even a tech station for the intellectual pillar!
Sales consultant Ashley Williams sees her mission at Westney Gardens as “enhancing the lives of others and giving them something to look forward to.” She’s seen lives transformed recently during the height of the pandemic by a buddy system program involving resident ambassadors.
This is where seasoned residents are paired with new residents to help them adjust to their new community. The impact means less social isolation and more engagement all around.

Highlights:
The amenities at Westney Gardens are breathtaking. There is a dining room, café bistro and pub for all one’s customizable dining needs. On the lower floor is a stunning library and fireside lounge. There is also a golf simulator and a cozy movie theatre.
A truly unique feature of Westney Gardens is their off-leash dog park and doggy wash station for residents who own dogs. The fake fire hydrant is a heartwarming touch. During my visit, I saw a happy pup loving the residence as much as his human counterparts.

The suites are bright and spacious. There is an inviting and modern feel to them, where you can picture residents living their most engaged and active lives. Residents can choose between a studio suite or 1 and 2-bedroom suites, with the majority featuring full kitchens, balconies and window coverings.

To ensure that residents have ample options to remain healthy and well, there is a gym, an in- house doctor, a hair salon and an aesthetician. So many talk the wellness talk, but Westney Gardens truly walks the wellness walk. It’s an all-around fantastic retirement residence option for central Ajax.
